Welcome to the Spotlight Series!
Welcome to the second edition of our Spotlight segment, a series that takes you behind the rental listing and gives you a feel for what it’s really like to call our Stepping Stone home, as well as some further details about the neighbourhoods. In true Stepping Stones style, we’ll also include any little gripes or quirks so you know exactly what to expect.
Today we set our sights on one of our most magnificent homes. Located in the heart of one of Valencia’s most peaceful suburbs, La Cañada – only a 15 minute walk from the metro line, taking you directly to the center – this house is truly the best of both worlds. Let’s go behind the scenes of this large family home, and buckle up because there’s lots to cover! Check out the listing and follow along with our 360 tour.
A Closer Look Inside
Where to begin with this place? It is truly impressive, 3 ½ stories of total style and personality – whilst maintaining a modern and sleek feel. On the ground floor, we have the first living room complete with a wood burner for the colder seasons, which looks onto the outdoor dining space and garden – in case that wasn’t enough choice, you have another full dining space to the left of your living room. Cleverly tucked away, we have the kitchen area with direct access to both inside and outside dining, and it’s equipped with all the utensils you could think of. (I love this place, I don’t know if you can already tell).
Let’s step outside, past the spacious patio and out toward the pool area. While the pool might be more of a winter showpiece, heading to the back of the garden reveals one of the property’s many hidden gems: a fully equipped outdoor kitchen, complete with its own bathroom and a paella and gas cooker.
It’s the perfect setup for hosting garden parties or perfecting your Paella Valenciana and with a dedicated space like this it would be rude not to! At the front of the property, you’ll also find covered parking spaces, ideal if you choose to rent a car during your stay.
Like I said, there’s a lot to cover, so let’s keep going. Heading down to the basement brings us to one of my favourite parts of the house. On one side, you’ll find a super-cosy cinema room/snug, perfect for larger families, teens, or anyone who loves a movie night. Right beside it is a fully equipped home bar, making this level ideal for hosting-or simply enjoying a lazy evening on the sofa with a drink in hand. And of course, there’s yet another full-sized dining area. At this point, would you expect anything less?
On the right-hand side, you’ll find the first guest bedroom, along with a spacious study area featuring two desks and plenty of room for storage and monitors. There’s also a fully renovated downstairs bathroom with a gorgeous overhead shower.
For families with teens, this whole level could even work as their own mini studio- just be sure to clear out the bar first!
Finally, we head up to the bedrooms and study area. On the split-level landing, you’ll find one twin room and one double room, along with a spacious bathroom that also includes a washing machine. Continuing up the stairs, we reach the main bedrooms, which are connected by an internal doorway that leads through to a large dressing room, storage area and third bathroom.
I can’t finish the walkthrough without mentioning the impressive study area. You said you wanted a home office? Toma home office. Working from this spot will have you feeling like you’re in the cast of Succession. If you have kids running around, we recommend keeping this area closed off as your private home office (plus, you’ll have your own terrace for your peaceful mid morning coffee break!) This house has plenty of style, and if you’re worried about little hands causing a bit of chaos, don’t worry, you can tuck any items away in one of the storage rooms and return it to its spot when you leave. This property also has its own solar panels, which are accessed and controlled through the basement storage room – which can help to significantly reduce energy costs. See, they thought of everything!
In the Neighbourhood
Let’s talk about location. This property is in the residential zone of La Cañada, to the northwest of Valencia, right on the metro line. While many people in the area tend to rely on a car, getting around on foot is surprisingly easy. Despite what Google Maps might suggest, there are footpaths that take you to the metro station in about 15 minutes—and from there, you’re in the city center in roughly 20–25 minutes.
La Cañada itself is a charming residential suburb of Paterna, with a mix of permanent homes and traditional chalets, giving it a suburban yet lively feel. It has a growing local infrastructure with shops, cafes, and everyday services—perfect for mid-term stays. Just off the metro, you’ll find spots like Horno Pastelería Cafetería La Esmeralda, ideal for a relaxed breakfast or coffee.
For nature lovers, La Cañada is wonderfully positioned near La Vallesa forest and the Ruta Fluvial del Turia. Here, you can enjoy scenic walks, cycling, or even kayaking and other water sports during the summer months. The area is a true “green lung” near the city, with pine trees and olive groves, perfect for families or anyone looking to set themselves up in the peaceful suburbs of Valencia
All in all, La Cañada offers the ideal balance: a tranquil, spacious suburban lifestyle with easy access to the heart of Valencia, and plenty of green space for relaxing, exploring, or entertaining.
