The first big difference between Airbnb and Stepping Stone Rentals is length of stay. Airbnb is great for short-term visits, long weekends, and quick getaways, but that\u2019s not what most of our clients are looking for.<\/p>\n\n

Generally speaking (and yes, the rules are always changing and vary by region), Airbnbs are considered tourist rentals and are typically limited to up to 10 consecutive nights for the same guest. Anything beyond that is classed as a seasonal or temporary rental, which comes with a whole new set of regulations. On Airbnb, those rules can often blur into a bit of a grey area – and grey areas are exactly what our clients don\u2019t need when they\u2019re moving countries.<\/p>\n\n

There\u2019s a long list of hidden variables that come with emigrating, even the most organised travellers can\u2019t plan for everything. We\u2019ve found that having a Stepping Stone in place on arrival makes a huge difference. Airbnb is ideal for short stays, but it can sometimes lack the practicalities needed for longer ones, and that\u2019s where Stepping Stone comes in. Every property starts from a different place. Some are full-time homes with real character and lived-in personalities; others are designed specifically as rentals, with a more minimal but thoughtfully considered setup. That works when you\u2019re out exploring all day and just need a comfortable bed and decent amenities. But for most of our clients, that\u2019s not quite enough.<\/p>\n\n

Yes, you\u2019ll spend time getting to know the neighbourhoods, testing out new bars and restaurants, and finding your people, but when you\u2019re at home, you want it to feel like home.
